Benjamin Mays Black Alumni Society

Bates College Black Alumni

Working Towards a Brighter Future

Bates College has a rich history of developing Black leaders who dedicate themselves to servant leadership and giving back to the community.  The Mays Alumni Society is dedicated to sustaining

this legacy for future generations.

The Society was formed in 2019 to honor Dr. Benjamin E. Mays (Bates class of 1920) and his fellow pioneers. They paved the way for all Bates students of color so that we may continue to follow in the path that they cleared.
